Carson Hepworth, 7th grade, is the “Male Student Athlete of the Month.” He is a star basketball player for The Sharks team at the Gulf Breeze Recreation Center.

Carson has been playing basketball for six years. Carson plays small forward, which means he is one of the players that is responsible for scoring points. His team has won two games out of three this season. There are ten students on his team that all had to try out. They practice three times a week. Carson says his favorite part about playing is “the fast break.” Fast break is when the offensive team runs to get the ball from one end of the court as quickly as possible before the defense can set up.

He also plays baseball and football. Carson really enjoys playing sports and has been playing them since he was little. He plans to continue playing throughout high school and college. Both his parents played sports at Western Kentucky University. His mom played basketball and his dad played baseball. Caden Emma, 7th grade, one of Carson’s friends, says Carson is an “all around great player and student.” Dominic Jackson (another 7th grade Sharks player) says, “Carson is a pretty amazing player.” It is clear that Carson is an excellent player and teammate.
