Ms. Christina Cornelius is an amazing teacher here at GBMS. She’s been teaching since 2006. Other than GBMS, Ms. Cornelius has taught at Avalon Middle School. She originally worked as a paralegal in a law firm for ten years, but to care for her son recovering from a tumor removal, she had to quit, and instead began substituting. She loved it so much so that she became a teacher full-time.

Ms. Cornelius’s favorite subject to teach is, without a doubt, sixth grade language arts. “With my students, I get to explore all kinds of places with memorable characters. I love seeing the kids get the ‘Ah-ha’ moment in a tense story or novel once they figure out the mystery or climax,” she stated. “I like sixth graders because they are eager to get going and say some of the funniest things.” When asked her overall opinion of GBMS students, she strongly believes the students of GBMS are well-mannered, friendly, generous, and have great determination.

Ms. Cornelius absolutely loves music. This year, Mrs. Smithey’s 5th period band has had the pleasure of having her assist their class. In high school, she played in the Woodham High School band.  Ms. Cornelius grew up in Pensacola, went to college at Florida State University, earning a degree in criminal justice, and has now lived in Pace for over 18 years.

It’s a known fact among Ms. Cornelius’s students that she’s an all-around great teacher! She teaches her kids what they need to know, while also engaging with them. Two of her students, Brandon DeRosa and Leah Hamilton, both say, “She makes everything fun.”
