On January 8, Alabama, ranked 4th, played Georgia, ranked 3rd, in the college football playoffs. They played in Atlanta, Georgia Mercedes-Benzs Stadium at 8:00 p.m. The Alabama Crimson Tide defeated the Georgia Bulldogs 26–23 in overtime. The Crimson Tide are now known as the college football champions. Colin Slatton, 7th grade said, “Alabama deserved to win all the way.”

This college football championship was the first all-SEC championship. The first quarter was scoreless. In the second quarter, the Bulldogs led the Tide 13-0. The third quarter is where the Crimson Tide started to make their comeback 20-10, but Georgia was still up. At the end of the final quarter it was all tied up 20-20. When the final horn sounded, Alabama had won 26–23 in Atlanta.

“I guess blowing leads is Georgia’s thing,” said David Chavez, 7th grade.

At the very end of this year’s college football season, Alabama stands victorious in their second college football championship in three years. That is pretty impressive on their part as they had faced Clemson the past two years and going one-to-one in that championship series.
