It’s human nature to not want to follow rules, and a lot of people find themselves questioning the importance of these rules. However, we all need to know and obey the Code of Conduct to have a civilized school environment and maintain order. That’s why all GBMS students took the Code of Conduct test again on Thursday, January 11.

According to Mr. Renfroe, dean of GBMS, and Ms. Murphy, assistant principal, one of the rules students tend to break often is being late to school. Students should only have a maximum of 3 times of being late per 9 weeks. Another rule students tend to break is respecting others, such as breaking classroom rules and disrespecting teachers. Students need to remember our theme of #respectthephin and respect teachers because they are the ones that are teaching them their future and everything they need to get through school and beyond. Another rule students tend to break is the dress code. Students might wear sleeves that are too short or have their hood pulled up. It’s important to follow the dress code because dressing inappropriately can be a distraction for others.

Many students are discouraged from the new rule that the Code of Conduct test is now twice a year instead of once, but the reason is we need to refresh the minds of students who may have forgotten some of the rules, and to inform new students who came to this school after the first Code of Conduct test.

It’s important to remember that Code of Conduct is not meant to keep you from doing the things you may want to, it’s to keep you safe and to let you have a great school year.
