Nicholas Khan, 6th grade, has mastered the elements of the periodic table. Currently, Nicholas is able to recite all 118 elements and their symbols. When asked how long he studied them, he responded saying, “It took me about a day to memorize them. The periodic table song helped a little bit… but a book in the library about the elements  helped a lot.” Nicholas said,“For the first 98 elements, I used the periodic table song and for the last 20, I used a book from the library.” Nicholas also said he prefers the name of the elements over their abbreviation which is harder for him to memorize. Nicholas said he started studying the elements because one day he heard the first ten, and just couldn’t get them out of his head. When asked about Nicholas, Mr. Smith, Nicholas’s sixth period science teacher said,  “I think it is remarkable that he can recite all of the elements in the Periodic Table of Elements.”

Although Nicholas says there isn’t a favorite element of his, he said that chlorine is definitely not a fun one. When asked about Nicholas, Mr. Smith replied saying, “I told him that he should do very well in eighth grade Physical Science. I also told him to consider going into a career that involves chemistry.”
