Amazing Artists- The GBMS art set up on November 2,3, and 4.

On November 2, 3 and 4, the Great Gulf Coast Arts Fest was held at Downtown Pensacola’s Historic Seville Square. GBMS students presented their work in the art booths, and four students placed. Four other GBMS students also danced on the performance stages. There were also face painting booths, arts and crafts, music on the main stage, and lots more.

GBMS art student participants were Jakob Landers, Rico Stamey, Ashley Beam, Augustina Delapp, Keeley Williams, Katelyn Ambrosi, Laney Farmer, Amelia Jacobs, Ava McCall, Delaney Irovando, Amie Birk, Allison Stuart, Conrad Monlezun, Maia Ambrosi, Luci Martin, Harper Borden, Abbigail Maxwell, Julia Ducote, Samantha Weil, Madailyn Cengari, Catherine Weaver, Jackson Cross, Mollie Goto, Maria Clark, Samantha Shearman, and Lillian Green. All works of art were made with primary hues only. The winning students were, Julia Ducote, 7th grade, Amelia Jacobs, 7th grade, Maria Clark, 7th grade, and Madailynn Cengeri, 8th grade. Their work was judged by qualified artists who examined, “more than 600 applications for the festival.”

The GBMS students that danced on the Children’s and Parrish stages were Baylen Crance, 8th grade, Gracyn Phelps, 8th grade, (LaBelle Performing Arts) Coral Coad, 8th grade, and Aurora North, 7th grade (Broadway Lights Dance Center.) These students performed many dances including the styles ballet, contemporary, and jazz, in 15-minute time periods on one or both stages.

According to ggaf.org, the Arts Fest originally started in 1972 when art patrons wanted to expand the work of local artists. The first festival was held in September of 1973. The festival has taken place every year except for 2004, because of the damages from Hurricane Ivan.

Congratulations to the participants, the winners in the art show, and the dancers that performed on the stage. Make sure to stop by the Pensacola Great Gulf Coast Arts Festival next year to see future GBMS artists and performers.
