In the first game, the teams were very evenly matched. The score was 3-2, a Texans loss. The score of the second game was 3-0, and the they lost again. Although the Texans lost, they learned what they needed to do better and how to improve. The Texans won the final game. The score was 3-0.

Meredith Pugh, 8th grade, says, “… it was just really fun playing with my team and winning our last game against 15 and 16-year-olds.” The Texans placed fourth out of the six teams in the showcase.

The team had to play against older kids, so there were many challenges. Maggie Feltenberger, 8th grade, says the most challenging part of playing up is, “The size difference.”

Neysa Misita, 8th grade, says, “The most challenging part was that they had more skill and were physical.”

Meredith says, “I would say that the hardest part of playing up was that we played a lot bigger and taller girls than us, but I feel like our team was more aggressive and that we wanted the ball more.”

Cameron Kent, 8th grade, from Ransom Middle School, takes her shot on goal.

Although the Texans faced many challenges playing up, they were excited to learn new things. Neysa says, “And the best part is that we were able to prove we were just as good as them.”

Maggie says her favorite part was, “The learning experience and the challenges we faced as a team.”

Meredith says, “My favorite part of the IMG camp was going to their ginormous campus and experiencing what it would feel like to be a real college athlete.”
